Can it stand alone? Nope.

Description; One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

"New York Times" bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian "Divergent" series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Would I recommend it? Yes

Who would I recommend it to? Those of you who enjoyed the first book.

Review; This book, though I still enjoyed it, was not as good as Divergent. A lot of things happened, but the book seemed to have a bit of a slow start. I have waited for so long to read this book and I expected more.
There were revelations. There were lots of things in this book. I could have devoured it in one sitting, I really wanted to, but I also didn't want it to end. Which is why I read it over two days rather than one. The ending, though it isn't really a cliffhanger, like the first wasn't, makes me want to read more, as the first one did. Of course we have two wait until 2013! Why must authors and publishers make us wait so long?
The characters. Well Tris was slightly more annoying. And didn't like her as much. Four/Tobias was less understanding when he needed to be. I found myself getting slightly annoyed with them at points, but I understood why they were like that and I still didn't mind them in the end. The other characters were, as always, likeable or unlike able depending on where they stood. Marcus for instance was still a major douche. I hate him. I has my suspicions about Evelyn. All the characters are believable to me.
Though this book didn't really live up to the first in my eyes, it is still a book I could read over and over again, much like the first. I can't wait to find out what happens next! If you have not read Divergent and Insurgent you need to get your copies now. You cannot miss this series, it is a must-read!
